Calviq AI Food Calorie Tracker Is Now Live — Scan Any Meal, Know Every Nutrient

Today, Calviq AI Food Calorie Tracker is live on the Play Store — and it is the nutrition app we wished existed before we built it.

Manual food logging is broken. Searching for "grilled chicken breast, 180g" in a database, picking from twelve different entries that all show different numbers, and repeating that for every ingredient in a meal — most people quit within two weeks. The apps that tried to fix this with AI photo scanning got the concept right but left too much on the table: only calories, no micronutrients, no barcode mode, no way to correct a wrong result, and a paywall before you could try a single scan.

Calviq is our answer to all of it.

What Calviq AI Does

Point your camera at any meal and Calviq returns the full nutrition picture in seconds — not just calories, but protein, carbohydrates, fat, fiber, sugar, and sodium. For packaged food, switch to barcode mode and get exact product data including allergens, Nutriscore rating, and NOVA group classification. No typing. No searching. No guessing.

If the AI identifies something incorrectly, use the AI Fix feature — describe the correction in plain language and Calviq recalculates instantly. This one feature alone separates Calviq from most competitors where a wrong scan means manually rebuilding the entry from scratch.

Everything Calviq Tracks

Every scan in Calviq returns:

  • Calories — total energy from the meal
  • Protein — in grams, tracked toward your daily goal
  • Carbohydrates — total carbs with fiber and sugar broken out separately
  • Fat — total fat content
  • Fiber — often missing from competing apps entirely
  • Sugar — standalone, not buried inside carbs
  • Sodium — critical for anyone managing blood pressure or water retention
  • Allergens & Nutriscore — for barcode scans via product databases

The home screen shows your daily calorie ring, macro progress bars, a 7-day week strip, and a contextual AI insight line that updates based on how your day is going — something like "420 kcal left — plenty of room for dinner." It is the kind of glanceable summary that keeps tracking from feeling like a chore.

Two Scan Modes, One App

Most AI trackers offer photo scanning only. Calviq has two modes and you switch between them with a single tap.

Photo scan — point at any plated meal, home-cooked or restaurant. The AI identifies the dish, estimates the portion, and returns the full breakdown. You can adjust the serving size before logging — half, standard, large, double, or a custom amount — so the number that goes into your diary is actually accurate to what you ate.

Barcode scan — for packaged food. Scan any barcode and get exact product nutritional data. No estimation, no averaging. Packaged food makes up a significant portion of most people's diets and photo scanning is simply not the right tool for a box of cereal or a protein bar.

The Diary, History, and Insights

Every meal you log goes into your diary under breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snack. The History screen lets you browse day by day with expandable day cards and per-meal delete.

The Insights screen shows trend charts for calories, protein, carbs, fat, fiber, sugar, sodium, and weight across week, month, six months, and year views. This is where short-term logging becomes long-term awareness. Most users who quit calorie tracking apps do so because they never see the bigger picture. Calviq makes the bigger picture the default.

Free to Start, Pro for Power Users

Calviq is free to download with no credit card required. The free tier gives you daily scans with the option to unlock more by watching a single opt-in reward ad — your choice, never forced. A Pro plan is available inside the app for unlimited scans and a fully ad-free experience.

There are no banner ads anywhere in Calviq. The only ad you will ever see as a free user is the reward ad you choose to watch to unlock additional scans.

Why We Built Calviq

We looked at what was available and saw the same problem everywhere: apps that only track calories miss too much. Fiber matters. Sodium matters. Sugar matters — not just as a subset of carbs but as its own tracked number. The apps that did track micronutrients made you pay for the privilege or buried the data three screens deep.

We also saw that barcode scanning in existing AI apps was either absent or unreliable. Calviq treats both scan modes as first-class features because real eating involves both plated meals and packaged food.

The AI Fix feature came from a simple observation: AI gets things wrong sometimes, and making it easy to correct a wrong result is not a nice-to-have — it is a core requirement for an app people will actually use consistently.

What's Next

Calviq launched today. We are already working on what comes next — expanded food recognition, deeper insights, and features we will announce when they are ready rather than when they are promised.
